BOOK CLUB: Self-Reg Schools Handbook by Drs Shanker & Hopkins with Kim Smith (Fall 2021)

Join us for our Self-Reg Schools: A Handbook for Educators by Drs Stuart Shanker & Susan Hopkins book club hosted by Kim Smith starting October 19, 2021.

Every Tuesday from 7pm EST, Kim will host a live (and free!) Zoom chat to dive deeper and discuss your 'ah ha's from the week's chapter. These sessions won't be recorded but a summary video will be posted soon after for those who weren't able to attend the live chat, but would like to engage in the online text-based discussions in the online portion of the book club.

Meet Kim

Kim is a retired principal who first learned about Self-Reg in order to support students in a school that was considered challenging. Working with the staff and students to build a haven was a life-changing experience, both professionally and personally. As well as being an eLearning Facilitator and speaker for The MEHRIT Centre, Kim works part-time as a principal and incorporates Self-Reg into every school. She was a reviewer and contributor for the Self-Reg Schools: A Handbook For Educators and has taken every course offered by The MEHRIT Centre.

Why this book? Why now?

What does Self-Reg look like, sound like and feel like in a classroom and school? Self-Reg Schools: A Handbook for Educators offers real stories of how educators have learned about and implemented practical tools and strategies as they looked for ways to enhance their understanding of the students they support every day. We all have stories of moments when we’ve made a difference in the lives of students and this book is full of examples of how educators who, by looking at behaviour through a Self-Reg lens, are enhancing the lives of their students and their families on a daily basis.
