BOOK CLUB: Self-Reg by Dr. Stuart Shanker with Aviva Dunsiger (Fall 2021)

Join us for our Self-Reg: How to Help Your Child (and You) Break the Stress Cycle and Successfully Engage with Life by Dr. Stuart Shanker book club hosted by Aviva Dunsiger starting October 6th, 2021!

Every Wednesday this Fall at 8pm EDT, Aviva will host a live (and totally free!) Zoom chat to dive deeper and discuss your 'ah ha's the week's chapters. These sessions won't be recorded but a summary video will be posted soon after for those who weren't able to attend the live chat, but would like to engage in the online text-based discussions in the online portion of the book club.

Meet Aviva!

Our Co-Reg Community Facilitator, Aviva Dunsiger has been an active Self-Reg blogger for a number of years. She has taught everything from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and enjoys blogging about her teaching and learning experiences. She blogs professionally on her blog, Living Avivaloca.

Why this book? Why now?

Self-Reg is a very accessible book for educators, administrators, and parents, with examples shared that are relevant to the school as well as to the home. This book is about more than science, and really helps apply theory to practice. As we're returning to school after months of remote learning, many school boards are making mental health and well-being a priority. Stuart Shanker's Self-Reg book intersects with this priority, and shows us what could be possible at school and in homes to the benefit of kids, families, and educators.
