Hi Marie,

Thank you for sharing.

I love the post-it notes. A big fan :)

I am currently running similar research in Western Australia with a regional, independent school. I really like the use of the video application in phase 3 that you share.

I would love to chat with you if you have time.

Kindly,

Vanessa

Thanks for sharing this snapshot of your research journey with us Marie. It's interesting to hear about how the learning culture of the school has approached self-regulation for educators as well as students. When you talked about the gradual increase in the number of teachers willing to be videotaped as the level of comfort increased, it reminded me of Anthony Muhammad's book about transforming school culture and the impact of early adapters in helping to create a culture of learning and change in schools.

Hi Marie,

It is great to see this topic of research being brought forward into the public. When we can build those relationship, we can speak from a place of authenticity to share out thoughts enabling everyone to learn. Love this and I hope we can learn more from you and the teachers you mentored and learned from.

Many thanks,

Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,

Thanks for your reply. There is such exciting potential for connecting self-reg theory to practice by building relationships with people, content, and practice. These teachers gifted me such insight. They learned and I did too. Self-Reg is always such an interesting teacher.

Hi Mel, I was born in Sydney:) Yes please be in touch - marie@self-reg.ca. I am thinking I might do another blog regarding the video component of this research and it might be interesting for you and Aviva to learn a little more.

Thanks for sharing what you did here. The videotaping that you discussed has me wondering about doing this on our own. I think it's something that my teaching partner and I might try, as we videotape a lot already. This could lead to an interesting discussion, and maybe an even better awareness around our own Self-Reg. I wonder if others have tried this too.

Hi Aviva, I’m so glad this got you thinking. The video component was by far the most powerful part of the professional learning. Teachers learned so much as they discussed with me how the professional learning we had done on SelfReg was being applied in their practice. Teachers who were less keen to be videoed had the same opportunity to look for SelfReg evidence when they viewed other peoples videos.
